But no researchers on aster leafhoppers, the main vector of the phytoplasma that causes AY, in this geography existed until recently. Now, researchers are a little bit closer to understanding exactly how those outbreaks occur, and which plant species are suitable food and hosts for aster leafhoppers.

Research from Saskatchewan Agriculture, presented at the 2022 Top Crop Summit, gives insight into how growers can gauge the likelihood of herbicide carryover, as well as what they need to know about their herbicides so they can work with manufacturers and agronomists to diagnose problems.
