Fusarium head blight mapping tool available to Prairie farmers

New Prairie-wide Fusarium head blight (FHB) risk maps are now available to producers in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The tool provides assessment of Fusarium Head Blight Index (FHBi), Fusarium-damaged kernels (FDK), and Deoxynivalenol (DON) risk levels in spring wheat, winter wheat, barley and durum, based on weather conditions.


Canada invests in diverse crop rotation research

The federal government is investing more than $5.7 million to the Canadian Field Crop Research Alliance (CFCRA) through the AgriScience Program – Clusters Component, an initiative under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, to promote more diverse crop rotations on farms.


CASA launches new national Kids FarmSafe Week

To promote safety on farms, the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association has launched the first annual Kids FarmSafe Week from May 13 to 19.

Both soybean cyst nematode (SCN) and soybean sudden death syndrome (SDS) are able to take big bites out of soybean yields, and both pests have been spreading almost hand-in-hand across Ontario’s soybean-growing areas.
