Government invests over $10 million in Saskatchewan agriculture

The Honourable Dan Vandal, minister for PrairiesCan, announced a federal investment of over $10 million for eight projects in Saskatchewan agriculture, helping to create 180 new jobs and maintain hundreds more. This includes projects in ag manufacturing, value-added ag and agri-food sectors in the province. These investments are expected to strengthen the Saskatchewan agri-food sector for years to come by creating additional revenue of over $110 million for businesses in the sector, including additional export sales of over $70 million.

A study was initiated in Saskatchewan in 2021 to determine if deep banding of phosphorous (P) fertilizer is necessary in no-till cropping systems in Saskatchewan. This practice may reduce P loss by distributing the P within the soil profile rather than be concentrated in the top 5 cm.
