Farmers for Climate Solutions (FCS) commissioned market research firm Leger to conduct a phone-based poll of 898 farmers and ranchers across Canada to better understand their perspectives on climate change and sustainability. The first question asked them what they think will be the main challenge for Canada’s agricultural sector in the next 10 years. The number one answer was climate change at 17.9 per cent. Many also said that input costs were a concern, at 17.2 per cent. Following that answer was government policy and regulations at 11.5 per cent.

Eligible applicants, including producers, agri-businesses, industry associations, provincial and territorial governments, Indigenous organizations and research facilities, can start applying for the Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) on January 27, 2025. Supported by an investment of approximately $13.5 million, YESP aims to help young Canadians gain employment in the agricultural sector. It offers support for up to 50 per cent of the cost of salaries and benefits, up to a maximum of $14,000, to agriculture and agri-food employers hiring Canadian youth.
