ATAC Conference Highlights

ATAC will be hosting a Forum on Aviation Industry Recruiting on November 8 as part of its Canadian Aviation Conference and Tradeshow to be held in Montreal from November 6 to 8. The Industry Recruitment Working Group created at last May’s ATAC symposium devoted to recruitment issues in aviation will update participants on the work accomplished so far. This report will include problem identification and action items to address them. The WG will report on the research conducted so far to identify Canadian training capacity. The CCAA will explain possible funding mechanisms and industry supported scholarship opportunities will be explored.

ATAC’s Safety Committee Annual Meeting held in conjunction with our 2017 Canadian Aviation Conference is focussed this year on “Aviation Fit-to-Work”. The session will lead off with Kathy Fox, Chair of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, speaking on Medical Factors Affecting Fitness to Work as identified in a recent TSB Investigation. A panel of experts consisting of Transport Canada’s Chief Medical Officer, a representative of the Canadian Human Rights Commission, an Aviation Psychiatry specialist, and an individual sharing his own experience will then share their perspectives on Aviation Fit-to-Work issues and preventative measures. >> Read more
