Following the “Calgary Incident” Transport Minister Garneau ordered all Canadian carriers to produce their protocols and measures are in place should another “incident” occur. Surely the intent was to reassure Canadians are well protected again unfit-to-fly pilots. A better response would have been to applaud how the situation was handled by the strong safety culture imbedded in the Canadian air transport industry. That would have sent a strong message to Canadians and demonstrated once again why Canada has one of the very best safety records in the world.
