On June 7th, 2017, Honda Aircraft Company announced that the HondaJet, the world’s most advanced light jet, received its type certificate from Transport Canada on June 1, 2017. The approval paves the way for the company to begin deliveries to Canadian registration customers as HondaJet production continues ramping up. Canadian type certification for the HondaJet follows approvals in the United States (Federal Aviation Administration), Europe (European Aviation Safety Agency), and Mexico (Directorate General of Civil Aviation).

ATAC will appear before the House Transport Committee in September on Bill C-49, the "Transportation Modernization Act", tabled in May by Transport Minister Garneau. The objective of C-49 is to amend the Canada Transportation Act by improving passenger rights, permitting greater foreign ownership, allowing joint ventures in air transport, reviewing CATSA's framework and permitting the TSB's use of on-board recordings in analyzing occurrences.
ATAC will work closely with the Minister and the House of Commons Transport Committee to ensure that Bill C-49 gets the required cooperation and feedback from industry.
