Transport Canada (TC) Aviation Security has rescinded Security Notice R/R – 009 effectively banning “Bear Bangers” onboard aircraft in Canada.
Bear bangers make a loud gunshot style noise to scare away bears.
ATAC equivalency certificate SA 6651 issued by TC Dangerous Goods Directorate (TDG) allows air operator members to handle, offer for transport or transport, by aircraft, dangerous goods and animal deterrents such as Bear Bangers subject to certain conditions of carriage.
With the help of ATAC, new TC Aviation Security language (R/R-009) allows transport of “Explosives-Bear Bangers” on passenger aircraft as per SA6651 Equivalency Certificate”.
