The 2019 Budget announced funding for CATSA to transition to an independent, not-for-profit entity. Legislation to enable this is likely to be attached in the omnibus bill to enact the budget.
While industry largely supports giving CATSA more control on its destiny and operations, we strongly suspect that a hefty price tag will be attached to this operation.
CATSA has been entirely funded by the Air Travelers Security Charge. Surely the government will not have the audacity to sell us something we have already paid for, thus resulting in an increase to the ATSC.
