The cost of training and the absence of financing are the greatest deterrents to choosing flying as a career. Government-back private financing would bring more people into aviation and give policymakers a tool to incentivize people into jobs where they are most needed, such as flight instruction and medevac.
ATAC proposes to create a government-endorsed loan program for pilots. A maximum investment by government of $5 million per year over a ten-year would allow the creation of a nationwide program which could train up to 600 new pilots a year and mitigate the pilot shortage threatening Canada.

The Embraer E175-E2 makes its inaugural flight from the company’s facility in São José dos Campos, marking the start of a 24-month flight test campaign. The third member of the E-Jets E2 family, which also includes the E190-E2 and E195-E2, Embraer will use three aircraft for the E175-E2 certification campaign.
