ATAC questions the claim by Flair Airlines that it was controlled by Canadians and its foreign investor never “exerted day-to-day control” although it held a major debt and occupied three of the five seats on the BOD.
If all that is required to show full compliance is the refinancing of some debt to this foreign investor, then why are 18 months required? Numerous Canadian carriers did not receive government support during the pandemic and still did not venture outside of the law. The Government should certainly not indulge a carrier that knowingly disregarded the law.
