The Bakery Cup of Canada is now accepting entries for the 2026 competition – your chance to demonstrate exceptional technique, teamwork and creativity as you compete for national recognition.

Taking place at Bakery Showcase in Toronto, May 3–4, 2026, this prestigious event brings together Canada’s top bread bakers and pastry chefs for two days of skill, artistry and friendly competition.

What you’ll bake:
  • Baguettes – 20 traditional baguettes (250 g baked weight)
  • Croissants – 12 curved butter croissants (60 g baked weight)
  • Viennoiserie – 12 creations featuring a surprise ingredient (announced two months before the event)
  • Specialty bread – 10 free-shaped loaves highlighting Canadian ingredients (700 g – 1 kg baked weight)
  • Artistic showpiece – (1 dead dough showpiece with minimum of 25% live dough) to be made entirely on site on the theme of World Cup Soccer 2026 (Dimensions: maximum width: 60 cm (23.6 in), minimum height: 50 cm (19.6 in))
What you’ll win:
  • Grand Prize: Trophy, Certificate of Excellence, $1,000 and coverage in Bakers Journal
  • Category Winners: $500 each + certificates + coverage in Bakers Journal
  • Outstanding Assistant: $500 + certificate + coverage in Bakers Journal
  • All competitors and assistants receive custom chef’s jackets
The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to qualify for the Mondial du Pain in France in October 2027 – a prestigious international stage for bakers.
