OC Transpo’s Special Constables play a key role in deterring crime, supporting vulnerable individuals, and fostering a positive and welcoming transit experience.

OC Transpo’s Special Constables are sworn Peace Officers within the City of Ottawa and undergo extensive, high-level training to prepare for the challenges of the role. They work closely with community partners to resolve situations and provide meaningful support when needed.
The SCU includes Special Constables, Sergeants, Communications Officers, and management staff who operate 24/7, 365 days a year to maintain a secure transit environment.
