National forecasters predict volatile wildfire season for Alberta, western Canada

Canada’s national wildfire forecasters predict Alberta will experience an average May followed by a far more combustible rest of summer. Natural Resources Canada released a series of wildfire forecasts for May to September earlier this month, sketching out areas of concern as the last of the snow melts and the landscape dries.


New Canadian designed device customized from firefighter mask could ease demand for invasive ventilators

Researchers out of London, Ont., collaborating with General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS), have designed a new device that could help ease the demand for invasive ventilators during the COVID-19 pandemic. The new device is customized from a firefighter mask using 3D printing and can be attached to any CPAP or BiPAP machine.


Confusion over cruiser, vest, led RCMP to open fire at Nova Scotia firehall

Confusion over a parked police cruiser and someone wearing a safety vest led two RCMP officers to start shooting at a person at a central Nova Scotia firehall during the manhunt for the gunman in last month’s mass shooting, sources confirmed to CBC.
