Canada has now experienced three years and six distinct “seasons” of avian influenza outbreaks in various parts of the country. While Canada continues to manage this threat, much has been learned about how to respond to the disease and biosecurity remains the strongest defense against avian influenza and other pathogens.

Spring migration represents a period of increased risk, and another great opportunity to evaluate biosecurity practices and review compliance across your team of workers and service providers. Farmers across the country have already made various biosecurity improvements – these efforts are acknowledged across industry and government.

If not already being used, consider a physical barrier to help with proper boot changes prior to accessing the Restricted Area of the barn.

Protect our flocks!
