The transition to net zero carbon emissions for Canada’s chemistry and plastics sector is both a challenge and opportunity that requires co-ordination between government, industry and communities. Achieving success requires multiple tools and policy levers supported by competitive tax and investment incentives. It’s a question of investment and capital attraction policies as much as a question of environmental policies. Finding the right mix will achieve important environmental results and secures long-term economic benefits. Failing to do so risks carbon leakage and deindustrialization.
Don Fusco, Regional Director, Ontario, for the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada will present a roadmap for the sector’s approach to net zero carbon emissions.
