Tolerances for vulcanized O-rings are broader than for molded ones due to the inherent variability in the extruded cord process versus controlled molding. At COR, we cut cord per RMA Class 1 Precision S1. For example, 15” ID O-ring with a 0.250” cross-section has a cut length of 47.9” with a tolerance of ±0.32”. In metric terms, that’s 1216.9 mm with ±8 mm tolerance. Understanding these tolerances is key when specifying or sourcing vulcanized seals.
