This episode focuses on challenges and progress within the Canadian fire service, with a particular emphasis on the unique circumstances and evolution of Indigenous fire departments. (Ret.) Fire Chief Tom DeSorcy interviews Acting Fire Chief Michael Seth, providing insights into the history, current state, and future aspirations of the Six Nations Fire and Emergency Services, while also touching on broader themes affecting fire services across Canada.

Currently, the Acting Fire Chief with the Six Nations Fire & Emergency Services, having started at the age of 14 with the Six Nations Fire Department and going into his 37th year of service, Chief Seth has had the good fortune of learning a lot over those years, including being the inaugural Paramedic Chief for Six Nations of the Grand River, as well as the Fire Chief in Ontario municipalities of the City of Thorold, County of Brant, and most recently the Fire Chief/Director of Fire & Emergency Services of Cape Breton Regional Municipality in Nova Scotia.

Having this diverse background of knowledge in the fire and emergency services has allowed him to be able to bring personal and professional experiences and friendships to the current role to better serve the community of Six Nations of the Grand River territory.
