Fire Chief Jason Cairney
Surrey Fire Chief Jason Cairney joined the Surrey Fire Services in 2002 and has worked in the ranks off firefighter, assistant chief and deputy chief. He has a background in hazardous materials response, business administration and holds a Master of Science degree in leadership and management. During his time in various fire chief positions, he has been responsible for fire prevention, community risk reduction, technology, communications and data governance.
In 2025, he was elected as 1st vice president of the Fire Chiefs’ Association of British Columbia and vice president of the Greater Vancouver Fire Chiefs' Association. He also sits on numerous committees and working groups at local and provincial levels.
