As we gear up for the World Trout Culture Summit next week (Oct. 18), we have on-demand sessions now available on our website.

The World Trout Culture Summit aims to unite trout culturists, scientists, farmers, technicians, suppliers, and other experts to drive innovation for this valuable species. Registration for this online event is $20 USD. All live sessions will be recorded and sent to registrants about 48 hours after the live broadcast.

Examining Trout Culture in Turkey

Dr. Hayri Deniz, secretary general of the Mugla Fish Farmers Association, discusses the significant growth of aquaculture in Turkey. Turkey has more than 2,000 fish farms, with inland fish farms being the majority. His presentation highlights the importance of site selection and fish farm size in development and management. He also mentioned that the government provides technical, financial, and social support for the sector, which has grown rapidly in the past decade.

Ontario Aquaculture Overview

RJ Taylor, managing director of the Ontario Aquaculture Association, presents the province’s long history of trout aquaculture. He talks about Ontario’s opportunity to grow the sector sustainably with strong participation from local Indigenous partners. He also shares about his experience as a second-generation trout farmer at Springhills Fish and Cedar Crest Trout Farms.
