Good information leads to good husbandry. Having access to real-time data has proven to be a game-changer in capturing, logging and analyzing your hatchery operation. As facilities become more digitized spaces, Ben Normand brings together a panel of experts to talk about how machine learning is improving aquaculture operations' flexibility, efficiency and animal welfare.

Moderated by:
Ben Normand is a fish farmer, writer, college instructor, and cheerleader for aquaculture. He has worked with various fin and shellfish species in New Zealand and Canada in production management, compliance, and communications. In his spare time, you can find him spending time with his family, sailing, biking, and tinkering in his workshop.

Panelists
Mark Braceland is a passionate advocate of Canadian, and international, aquaculture. As happy pen side as in the lab or behind a computer, throughout his career Mark has focused on applied research which has primarily focused on the prevention, detection, and treatment of disease bringing tangible benefits in the production of several species.
Chris Manley is an Outside Sales Specialist at Innovasea where his primary focus is on discovering solutions to improve production and efficiencies in various aquaculture operations. With a decade’s worth of experience designing, constructing, and operating recirculating systems, Manley’s prior experiences stem from working on improving marine hatchery husbandry protocols and developing novel marine species to successfully be cultured in RAS.
Matt Zimola co-founded ReelData AI in 2019 after learning of the deficit in technology dedicated to the growing land-based aquaculture industry. ReelData uses data-driven artificial intelligence to optimize the day-to-day operations of farms, helping to grow fish faster without wasting expensive feed. Most recently, they have introduced their second product, ReelBiomass; the first biomass estimation camera built specifically for the land-based industry.
