More bacteria-related fish deaths at California hatcheries

Three California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) fish hatchery facilities in the eastern Sierra and Southern California have been battling a bacterial outbreak that has affected 3.2 million fish. This week, the CDFW announced that the fish, which are all trout, at the affected facilities must be euthanized as a measure stop the spread of the Lactococcus garvieae outbreak.


Pioneering hatchery in India supplies barramundi seeds to farms in push for shrimp alternative

Efforts to encourage the production of barramundi in India recently got a boost with reports that a facility in Karaikal in the Union Territory of Pondicherry produced 15 tons of the fish from a mere one-hectare area.
