Effective Jan. 1, 2025, the federal energy efficiency regulation (Amendment 15) will raise the minimum efficiency standard for commercial boilers to condensing; meaning boilers must be manufactured to 90+ percent efficiency, from the current minimum of 83 percent. This change affects boilers between 300,000 Btu/h and 10 million Btu/h.*
As a result, the boiler incentive offers from Enbridge Gas will change significantly.
As of Nov. 1, 2024:
•
All boiler incentive quotes provided by Enbridge Gas prior to Nov. 1, 2024 will expire.
•
There will be no incentive available for high-efficiency, non-condensing boilers (85-89 percent efficiency). This includes installed high-efficiency boilers that have not submitted required documentation to Enbridge Gas.
•
The incentive for condensing boilers (90+ percent efficiency) will be reduced and eligibility criteria may change. This includes installed condensing boilers that have not submitted required documentation to Enbridge Gas. The incentive and offer eligibility changes will be announced in January 2025.
With our commitment to helping our customers save energy, we will continue to explore new incentive offers that will achieve natural gas savings for boiler heating systems.
