Safe radar sensors are used where optoelectronic sensors reach their limits: rugged environments. That is
because radar technology (FMCW: frequency modulated continuous wave) ensures continued machine uptime
even when there are external influences such as dust, dirt, rain, light, sparks, or vibrations.
The new PSENrd 1.2 FOV expands on already available advantages by adding asymmetrical and
corridor-shaped field of view. These new field options extend the number of applications that can be solved
with radar technology
In addition, Pilz is also introducing a new communication option for the radar analysing units. The PSEN rd1.x
SD I/O FSoE now enables users of EtherCAT and FSoE (Fail Safe over EtherCAT) to expand on the data that
can be captured using the radar system. Just like the already available ProfiSafe module the additional data and
functions include; detection coordinates, 4 detection zones, individual sensor status etc. The analysing unit can
accept up to 6 sensors and the system reaches SIL 2, PL d and Category 3.
