Safe radar sensors are essential in rugged environments where optoelectronic sensors fall short. Utilizing FMCW (frequency modulated continuous wave) radar technology, these sensors ensure continuous machine uptime despite external influences like dust, dirt, rain, light, sparks, or vibrations. Sensing range can often be a limiting factor of the application depending on the machine stop time or the working field.
The new PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV LR enhances existing advantages by not only incorporating asymmetrical and corridor-shaped fields of view, broadening the range of applications that can benefit from radar technology. Notably, the PSEN rd1.2 F-FOV LR also extends its detection range up to 9 meters, significantly improving the ability to solve more safety applications, especially in mobile and expansive environments.
Additionally, both ProfiSafe and Fail Safe over EtherCAT (FSoE) communications are available as evaluation units, along with an OSSD I/O version. These options enable users to capture more data with the radar system, including detection coordinates, four detection zones, individual sensor status, and more. The analyzing unit supports up to six sensors and achieves SIL 2, PL d, and Category 3.
