It’s a sinking feeling most contractors are all too familiar with: A demolition day reveals something unexpected, or a discovery is made halfway through the day that a critical fastener is missing. When it comes to material delays on jobsites, these seemingly minor hiccups launch a ripple effect of lost productivity, increased costs and uncomfortable conversations with clients.
“I don’t think there’s a single contractor or renovator out there who could say they’ve never had material delays,” says Joshua Oladehinde, co-owner of Level Custom Build in Mississauga, Ont. While his company focuses mostly on residential projects, Oladehinde says his colleagues in commercial construction note the same challenges on a larger scale. But no matter the size of the project, the impact of not having the proper goods on hand extends far beyond a simple inconvenience – when the work stops, so does everything else.
Luckily, a new reliable option is available to help contractors and their teams focus on what they do best. DoorDash recently partnered with RONA to facilitate delivery services for select construction materials, bringing the same on-demand convenience that consumers use for food and groceries to job sites. With deliveries arriving in as fast as one hour, materials and supplies become more accessible when and where they are most needed, minimizing the delays Oladehinde calls an “unavoidable reality.”
