AAFC cereal pathologist Reem Aboukhaddour’s project on tan spot resistance in durum and winter wheat reveals that some long-standing assumptions about this fungus’s interactions with wheat don’t actually apply to all types of wheat. Tan spot is one of the most destructive foliar diseases of wheat globally, but bread wheat and durum wheat are affected by different disease toxins.
