Weather and other conditions can have a big impact.
It’s been a hard year for most crops affecting seed quality, viability, and weight. Testing at harvest can help you better plan for storage, marketing, and future use of seed lots.

Seed Dormancy
In times of abiotic stress, such as drought and high temperatures, ABA increases, and GA decreases. This can affect plant maturity, seed dormancy, and seed germination. A germination test will reveal if there is a dormancy issue in the seed and identify abnormal seedling growth.

Seed Size and Weight
Higher variability is expected in seed lots this fall due to weather conditions. Adding a Thousand Kernel Weight (TKW) test at harvest will help determine rates for next year.

Germination and Vigour
Harsh conditions can impact germination and vigour, fall testing gives you insights to plan for storage and next year’s crop staging.
