Genesis Fertilizers is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Derek Penner as President and Chief Executive Officer, as well as director of Genesis Fertilizers GP Inc., the general partner of Genesis Fertilizers Limited Partnership.
Derek is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) with more than 20 years of senior financial, strategic, and operational leadership experience in both Canada and international markets. His previous roles include CFO and later President & CEO of Monsanto Canada, Director of Strategy and Licensing for Monsanto’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business, and CEO of one of Canada’s largest manufacturers of natural health products. Derek is also a co-owner and partner at Catchfire, an advisory firm specializing in M&A and executive management services.
Interim Board Chair Garth Whyte commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Derek as a director and chief executive of the organization. He has been a valued consultant on this project for several years and will now provide direct oversight of our fertilizer plant project.”
